Our CrossyRun™ family keeps growing by the day! Since the debut of Uncrossable Rush with Evoplay in June 2025, the mechanic has already gone through a few iterations, and each one has pushed the same idea in a slightly different direction. Now Orbital Rush takes it into outer cosmos, swapping the road for a chain of unstable planets and putting a cosmic Duck piloting a spaceship in the middle of the run.

At its core, it’s still the same step-based system, but it easily stands out from the niche with its novel gameplay. Orbital Rush is not simply another chicken game – Riddec Games has tweaked quite a few things to make the experience genuinely different.

What changes the flow is how you move. Instead of taking steps one by one, Orbital Rush uses a dice roll – a system we’ve already seen in an earlier CrossyRun™ collaboration, Chicken Pirate Route by Turbo Games. You hit the Spin button, the dice lands on a value from 1 to 6, and the Duck travels that many tiles in one go.

That landing spot is the whole point, because every planet on the path has a role. If you stop on a winning planet, its multiplier is added to your Cash Pot. If you hit a Death planet, your run ends with the entire accumulated Cash Pot gone. The dice-based movement system makes the gameplay more dynamic and unpredictable. At the same time, players have a sense of control they don’t get in generic chicken games, because you can clearly see the path ahead and know where the danger lies. This allows you to calculate your decisions more carefully.

Just like with the original CrossyRun™ idea, the tension is built around the cash-out button. After any successful move, you can collect what’s in the Cash Pot. Or you can keep pushing, stacking more multipliers, or try to go all the way to the Final Boss where the biggest prize lies.

While that may sound more complex than the usual cross-the-road experience, the game is still very easy to grasp, with quick rounds and simple controls. Here’s how to get started and play Orbital Rush:

As mentioned earlier, whenever the Duck lands on a winning planet, its multiplier is added to the Cash Pot, increasing the final payout if you cash out later. Orbital Rush features three different planet types. You will encounter them randomly on your path, though the further you proceed, the more often higher-value planets appear.

• Lettuce Planet – multipliers from x1 to x5.
• Cheese Planet – multipliers from x6 to x50.
• Diamond Planet – multipliers from x51 to x1,000.

The full track consists of 100 tiles, and the distribution shifts as you progress – early stretches are packed with Lettuce planets, with only occasional Cheese ones, while the deeper parts of the run start mixing in far more Cheese and Diamond planets. By the time you’re closing in on the end of the track, it’s mostly Cheese and Diamond with practically no Lettuce in sight.

Special Tiles

Death planets are bad spots. If you land on one, the round ends instantly, and the Cash Pot is lost. However, getting an Extra Life buff can protect you from the bad outcome. You can obtain one by landing on the Heart planet, and that allows you to land on a Death planet once without failing the run.

Portals add another type of variety to the movement system of Orbital Rush. When you land on a Portal, the Duck is instantly moved forward to the next Portal on the map. In practice, Portals can act like a shortcut, pushing you forward towards bigger possible rewards.

The Final Boss is the last step of the track. Reaching it is treated as the end goal of a run – upon landing there, the game applies an additional x1,000 multiplier and triggers an automatic Cash Out of the entire Cash Pot.

Autoplay

Orbital Rush also comes with an autoplay menu that lets you automate the session and set clear rules for how the game should behave across multiple rounds. You pick the Bet Amount and the Number of Bets first, then decide what happens after each outcome. For both Win and Loss conditions, you can choose between Return to base, Increase, or Decrease options that change the bet automatically depending on the previous round.

There are also two optional safety limits – Stop on Loss and Stop on Profit – which you can switch on and set to your preferred thresholds. Finally, the key part is the Cashout setting – players can define the cashout multiplier target, and the Duck will attempt to reach that target and cash out at that level.

Theme and Graphics

Orbital Rush masterfully executes the space adventure theme. The game feels very playful and lively, and the little spaceship pilot Duck has a ton of personality. Animations are superb, transitions feel very smooth, and the graphics in general are of the highest quality. Overall, it’s a very polished presentation, kudos to the Riddec Games design team.

My favourite part is the small background details. You’ll occasionally see a tiny floating chicken drifting around the space backdrop, and it instantly reminds me of Eggwina – the Uncrossable Rush series mascot. It’s the kind of funny touch that makes the world feel more alive and connected to the wider CrossyRun™ family.

Audio is handled just as well. The soundtrack matches the cosmic setting and keeps a steady tempo. Sound effects have a clear purpose too – you get distinct feedback for movement, landing on planets, and key events, so it’s easy to follow what just happened. It all adds to the sense that the game is actively reacting to your decisions rather than just displaying outcomes.

If you just want to get a feel for Orbital Rush before risking real funds, the demo version does the job nicely. You can run the full game loop for free, try different cashout habits, and see how the dice-based movement changes the flow compared to the more common chicken format.

Demo play is also useful for testing the game’s pacing and setting your own comfort zone. Some players will be fine cashing out early and repeating quick, low-risk rounds, while others will want to push deeper into the 100-tile track where Cheese and Diamond planets start dominating the board. Either way, free play lets you experiment without pressure and figure out what style you prefer.

Final Thoughts

Orbital Rush is a strong addition to the CrossyRun™ lineup, and it shows Riddec Games didn’t just repaint the formula. The dice-based movement changes how you think about risk, because every click commits you to a distance rather than a single step. Add the 100-tile track with its shifting planet distribution, and you get a run that naturally escalates – early rounds feel like controlled build-up, while late-game pushes you into higher-value territory where one bad landing can erase everything.

Extra Life and Portals keep the board from feeling flat, and I like that both mechanics stay simple while still having real impact on decision-making. Autoplay is another nice extra for anyone who prefers setting rules and letting the game run, but Orbital Rush still feels best when you’re actively managing cashouts and reacting to the visible danger ahead. Overall, it’s a clean, modern take on the “cross the road” crash format, and a good example of how far the CrossyRun™ engine can be stretched without overcomplicating the core idea.
