The game sticks out like a sore thumb compared to most Megaways titles we’ve seen, not only because of the uninspired visual presentation, but also because 512 win ways is the most you can hope for. Hardly anything “mega” about that, one could argue.

You still get the dynamic reels experience though, with up to 8 positions for each of the 3 regular symbol reels. The almost complete lack of features is another thing that makes this an unusual release to say the least, as all you have to look forward to is a 4th multiplier reel that boosts your winnings by up to x100. The 5,000x potential is below par for this engine, and the gameplay soon gets as tedious as the communist gray stone tiles you’ll see a lot of here.

There aren’t any real features to cover in this unusual Megaways release, as the only extra you get in this game is the 4th Multiplier Reel. The reel comes with multipliers between x1 and x100, and whatever multiplier lands in the framed center position will boost any win you land on that spin.

The Megaways engine usually comes with a bigger and bolder approach than what Pragmatic Play has conjured up in Elemental Gems, and there is something about the gray-centric color scheme that feels off as well. Combined with mediocre asian-style elements, the game looks boring from the get-go, although it might appeal to players looking for an ultra-simple Megaways experience the likes of which we’ve hardly seen before.

A dynamic reels engine with up to only 512 win ways is hardly worthy of the Megaways brand however, as there are plenty of regular slots with far more ways to win out there. Elemental Gems is basically an endless base game grind, with mostly dead spins or x1 multiplied wins, but you get top-up wins with larger multipliers once in a while also. The 5,000x win cap is not very impressive for this engine either, and we don’t see this one making much of a dent in the west.
